about

The smoldering and bluesy new summer single from Tempers "The Use of My Belonging", out everywhere on digital August 12, 2020. Learn more here: www.tempersmusic.com

“The Use of my Belonging” was recorded in our bedrooms across town in New York City during lockdown, and the rise of Black Lives Matter protests. Watching inequalities intensify to unethical extremes, as systems of power swerve into nightmarish realms of greed, brutality and oppression. The song is about the hope that love will prevail in an era of post-truth, that the return to love is somehow natural and inevitable."

lyrics

Well I didn’t see it coming
Now I feel so out of place
What’s the use of my belonging

And I know this is not the end of love

Kind of like summer
Kind of like something that comes again

When you turn around what I say
When you turn against me with it
What’s the use of my understanding

And I know this is not the end of love

Kind of like summer
Kind of like something that comes again
